Meet The Team
Mandy – Owner, Creative Director
Hi everyone! I’m Mandy, the owner and creator at the Lime Green Sewing Room. My husband, daughter, 3 cats and I call the Chicago suburbs home. When I’m not sewing or taking care of my family & house, I can be found at our local ballet studio (dancing, altering costumes, being a dance mom), playing World of Warcraft (FOR THE HORDE), enjoying cozy games on my switch (Animal Crossing and Hello Kitty are big favorites), or dabbling in creative planning and sticker making.
I grew up in a house where someone was always sewing – my family was very involved in the local community theater and with local historical reenactments. My mom helped out with costumes for the theater, and both parents worked on our family’s reenactment clothing. Beyond that, my mom also worked doing a lot of piece sewing for a local maker. I showed vague interest in it over the years, but it wasn’t until the summer after my first year in college that I finally decided I needed my mom to sit me down and show me the basics. She sent me back to college with an old kenmore machine she’d kept as a backup, and I was off. I started off making clothes, but I was never really good at figuring out proper fit. Eventually, I started making bags and that was that – I’d found what I enjoyed most!

I absolutely could not be doing this without the support of my family.
My husband has been a driving force – he encouraged me to finally start my business in 2016, he encouraged me to try to take it full time 10 years later. He’s supported me doing what I love, as well as helping out with other responsibilities with the kid and around the house when we get near big shows or gifting seasons, and getting set up at the shows themselves. I absolutely could not do this without him.
My mom has obviously been another big support in this. She’s got many years experience on me, both sewing and bag making. We share a lot of knowledge and resources with each other!
My mother-in-law has also been a huge support, lending a helping hand with keeping the kiddo busy as shows approach, helping out where she can at the shows themselves, and being a repeat customer!
